I was at the final and found it throughly engrossing. A lot of that is down to the immediacy of what was on offer, as if it had been a round 1 clash it would have been less interesting.jamie brannonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01668254365608375328noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29605452.post-32363201117700695542008-12-23T13:44:00.001+00:002008-12-23T13:44:00.001+00:00I think apart from the fact that it's an 8 o'clock...I think apart from the fact that it's an 8 o'clock start, another factor for the World, UK and Masters final is that there's a potential 11 frames in the final session.

I think there are grounds for playing 9 in the afternoon (which still guarantees some play in the evening). For example, 11 frames in the afternoon session, but if, say, someone reaches 8 frames, the session is stopped early to ensure some play in the evening.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29605452.post-76753530394349960832008-12-23T08:54:00.000+00:002008-12-23T08:54:00.000+00:00Hey, I used to love Tony Meo!Hey, I used to love Tony Meo!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29605452.post-25005353612464429072008-12-23T08:36:00.000+00:002008-12-23T08:36:00.000+00:00@ Dean...id leave 6 hours between start times (as ...@ Dean...

id leave 6 hours between start times (as per my first post) so that the players have more time for a meal between sessions.

thats why i say 1 and 7

could easily be 12 and 6 if you want a 6 start

if the match frames are fragmented and slower then it should still see them getting a decent session break.

i often feel that in finals the players dont get anywhere near enough of a break to get out, get a proper meal and get ready again (not to mention get a hit on a table if they wish to)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29605452.post-25424287965031982602008-12-22T19:07:00.000+00:002008-12-22T19:07:00.000+00:00I think the session times should be 1pm and 6pm on...I think the session times should be 1pm and 6pm on the final sunday. I can't think of a good reason to start so late, particularly as in a close match, it is even more likely to go on into the small hours. Ebdon-Dott, Higgins-Selby both world finals of recent times that finished very late, both beyond midnight I believe. This can't be good for anyone involved, not least the players, whose standard of play must surely be affected.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29605452.post-61400946964280551612008-12-22T15:38:00.000+00:002008-12-22T15:38:00.000+00:00Well at least there was an audience for the final ...Well at least there was an audience for the final unlike many of the earlier matches.
