The only blog member that is completely wrong is the lad that says that 7 is greater than 3 world titles and forgets about Mr Original Joe Davis the multi times champion.

Ray Reardon and John Spencer should also get a mention as they along with the Hurricane and Dennis Taylor Patsy and big Willie and others kept the game alive till “Pot Black” and TV arrived. These lads that chased up and down the then new motorways with there ready made Jokes and trick shots will always be remembered when the millionaire player are long gone.

This is all good copy for Dave’s Blog and the game but is now “Old Hat” and the chat and chatter should change. The game would expand with new ideas from the blogs. Start making the patter about: Who’s entertaining and what part of “A or B” game is remarkable. Sadly the pro’ players are playing like Robots and the best Robots are beginning to be the winners. If you ask anyone there is a difference, Hendry himself has said Ronnie is the most gifted player we have seen, but I dont think he is better in terms of being a winner. I hardly say I was dismissing Davis and Hendry when I called them the two greatest ever, but the sport evolves and the standards improve particularly from the eighties. The speed of thought and application when in play is the main factor. The lad seems to know exactly what he is doing right and probable knows also when he does wrong.

This may sound condescending Dave but very few people can tell you (in words) how to play a shot or the reason (in words) why a shot was unsuccessful. What most people think that a missed pot is aiming wrong; players never or very seldom aim wrong, so there has to be a reason for every missed pot.

What the lad is showing is “A Snooker Method of the future”, but still without “A timing and tempo” to match the pace of play. Though it is comfortable quick Dave it is without finesse.

The lad has got something Dave, though it maybe is just repetition and habit that gives the pace. What ever it is Dave it will be coached out of him if he goes to Sheffield. Or every coach in Sheffield will adopt this new way. Mr hey you

PS I wondered if he has it bottled Dave! I’m glad my book and copyright sign is nearly twenty years old.
