They moved to Telford and the arena was a ghost town. They moved back to York and the crowds came back. There is obviously an appetite for snooker in York. If they had played the first round in Barnsley or the EIS and held over the top 16 matches, that would have cut down the number of matches from 127 to 79. The BBC haven't helped matters by insisting that the world number 1 players an amateur, but that wouldn't have been necessary if the schedule was less rushed. No, Barry, you have done wonders with the game but this particular event is a flop entirely of your own making...a far cry from the superb Champions Cup last week.Wolfganghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08468431337680647867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29605452.post-1052390918521349132013-12-03T16:52:31.669+00:002013-12-03T16:52:31.669+00:00I can recall the interview you did with Bazza at t...I can recall the interview you did with Bazza at the RAC where he said he didn't understand why the Welsh Open wasn't in Cardiff (and hinted that he would take it back to the C.I.A). Going to the Ricoh would be a step backwards to the old days of venues like Telford.

I'm still inclined to trust Bazza on the basis that he took a major punt when he started hiring out 10,000 seat venues for Premier League darts. But he needs to do something similar for snooker (at the moment it seems that he is writing off the UK as a market for anything other than the worlds and invitationals)

ANONhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05659336060050687311noreply@blogger.com
