FATHER'S DAY FOR HIGGINS

Twice world champion John Higgins has become a father for the third time.

His wife, Denise, gave birth to daughter Claudia last week. The couple already have two boys, six year-old Pierce and Oliver, three.

Higgins will attempt to shrug off the sleepless nights when he takes part in the first World Series event in Jersey next weekend.

"I'd better do well because my wife is spending a small fortune on pink outfits for the baby," he said.

"But we are thrilled to have our first little girl and while I've had a few sleeps on the couch she has been brilliant. The whole family could not be happier."

I just read John Higgins will be involved in the opening Premier League match against champion Ronnie O'Sullivan...

However, looking at the dates, I noticed there is no visit to Scotland on the Premier League calendar. This seems a bit harsh as central Scotland now has no key tournaments, it used to have the Regal Masters at the start of the season and the Scottish Open. I know the Grand Prix is scheduled in Aberdeen, but for fans in the central belt (Glasgow to Edinburgh) there is no chance to see top class snooker.

What's your thoughts Dave?

It's disappointing for Scottish snooker fans but I think it's just a case that a Scottish venue wasn't available for any of the nights involved.

Worse news - it looks like the GP won't be in Aberdeen.
