O'SULLIVAN AND SELBY SET TO CLASH AGAIN

Ronnie O'Sullivan and Mark Selby could be about to renew their rivalry in the first Players Tour event, which gets underway on Friday.

O'Sullivan and Selby will clash in the last 32 if they each win their first two matches, although Selby could have to play Ryan Day in the last 64.

Selby pulled off two dramatic victories over O'Sullivan last season, in the Wembley Masters final and in the Betfred.com World Championship quarter-finals.

O'Sullivan starts out in the last 128 against Welshman Andrew Pagett, who is back on the circuit this season having played on the main tour during the 2008/09 campaign.

Selby's opening match is against David Grace, the former European and English amateur champion.

Fans' favourite Jimmy White starts out against Gareth Green, former UK and Masters champion Matthew Stevens begins his bid against Accrington's Chris Norbury and Shaun Murphy faces Birmingham's Mitchell Mann.

Peter Ebdon meets Polish cueman Krzysztof Wrobel, Mark Williams will play Marc Harman and 15 year-old Luca Brecel, who won the European amateur title earlier this month, will play former Grand Prix champion Marco Fu in perhaps the last 128's most intriguing tie.

The eventual winner pockets a cheque for £10,000 and receives 2,000 ranking points.

The full draw is here.

I think ROS vs Selby is due in last 32 Dave ... and Selby vs Day in Last 64.

Indeed you are correct. I misread the draw and shall correct the original post.

It's a funny matchup. Will Ronnie ever give Selby credit? From what I've heard over the years Ronnie has very little respect for Mark as a player, regardless of his losses.

7:16, Ronnie is just a ballon of a man, so the answer to that is obvious.
Here is hoping Selby beats him again. Go Selbs

Everytime the draw for an event is made - everybody goes OTT about the potential match ups later in the event.

Roger Federer almost lost his 1st round match up today.

Goodness me - Ray Reardon beat Steve Davis 5-0 in the early rounds of the British Open 1988.

Hendry,in his prime, got beat 9-0 by Marcus Campbell at the 1998 UK !

More recently,Steve Davis beat John Higgins 13-11 at the 2010 World Champs.

With the shorter format in the PTC there are bound to be more shocks & upsets.

IF Ronnie & Selby meet - it would be another strand to their brewing rivalry - But,lets not get ahead of ourselves here !

With the new format - There will be less players making up the numbers - I am sure of that.

Dave i was under the impression that the PTC Will be seeded but having Day playing selby in the last 64 shows it isn't.

Anon 9.43 pm - I am sure fans of English & French football were 'speculating' over their potential last 16 or QF opponents BEFORE the World Cup ! LMAO

Bottom line is - you take nothing for granted !

The O'Sullivan/Selby rivalry would only be enhanced by future meetings at the World Champs,
Masters or PTC Finals maybe -
because they have set the benchmark so high already.
