DULL RECORD EQUALLED

There was a frame in the Stephen Maguire v Mark Davis match in Bahrain today that finished 49-1 to Davis.

The 50 points scored thus equalled the lowest aggregate frame score in a ranking event match. Graham Horne and Barry Mapstone also aggregated 50 in a frame during a qualifying match for the 1996 British Open qualifiers. Horne won the frame 34-16.

This is slightly misleading, though, as it does not include frames where players have conceded at ridiculously early points, as several have over the years.

Therefore, the record only applies to 'proper' frames.

Regardless, it's not really the sort of record you'd want to hold.

    Ahm, and whats up with the first round match of Ronnie O'Sullivan and Judd Trump in the welsh Open earlier this year? The second frame ended 40:8 for Trump...

    Was Maguire warned for something during the match? Joined it late and there seemed to be some discussion about possible penalties?

    I'm the first anonymous. Ronnie was warned in the sixth frame of this match when he was conceding the frame after he left an easy red in front of the corner. Dave is right. The second frame lasted 45 minutes and ended 40:8

    @ 7:20pm anon - he was warned. i think it was at the end of the 6th frame which davis won to go 3-3...

    He was warned because he conceded the frame when he could still win it

    Davis needed one more red and probably would have potted it, although nothing is ever guaranteed

    Dave, I also have on record the 7th frame of M.Campbell-Hamilton at the Crucible in 2001, which Hamilton won 46-2. No idea if that was conceded early or not, but Campbell is not the likeliest candidate.
