PETER EBDON STATEMENT

Peter Ebdon, the 2002 world champion, has today issued a statement revealing that he has separated from Deborah, his wife of 16 years.

He said: “Deborah and I have separated. It is an amicable parting of the ways and is by mutual consent.”

“I ask now that my own privacy and that of the rest of my family is respected by everyone. I will not be making any further comments.”

Interesting, I wonder how long they have been in trouble and whether it has had a real impact on his form on the table.

Wow, I'm very shocked at this! Peter, Deborah and their kids always looked a very happy family, and Peter certainly came across as a devoted family man.

Wasn't Deborahs brother (Gary Baldrey) Peters manager?

I think the ground is the procession to Dubai.
    Deborah don`t like it there.
She miss her family and friends.

no matter what you think of peter ebdon the person and or snooker player, nobody likes to see a couple, or indeed a family separate.

    sad news!

Sad news indeed; I also think the move to Dubai did not improve their relationship...

Yeah, hope at least that now Peter can focus on his game, so that de won't drop out of top-16! I really can't see him go to Prestatyn for qualifiers...

We need him in the game! He's always been one of my favs, i love it when he fires those unexpected shots, and the way he lifts his leg in the air when lying on the table aiming...

The same happened to Murphy, his form went bad, but once out of the pithole he won The Uk. I would not be surprised Ebdon will winn another ranking tournament early next season.

    That is sad news.

But if Peter did drop out of the 16, I think he'd be quite at home back at Pontin's

It's a venue he's got quite fond memories of, having won events here and made a 147 here.

Having said that no top players wants to have to come and play in the small booths again after the tv tables and large (sometimes!) audiences.

it will probably make him even worse at snooker. Hes not that good anyway in my opinion. Not a big fan of him hes to slow. And i havent even seen his family so doesnt really bother me.

  10. I'm afraid I've had to delete several comments on here because they were potentially libellous

At the moment, comment moderation is not activated - when you reply it appears immediately

However, this will have to change if people persist in hurling insults so I would ask, respectfully, that nobody does

It sure goes some way to explaining his shocking results this season.

If it's due to what another poster said that Deborah doesn't like Dubai then you would think the answer would be move back to Blighty to save the marriage. There must be more to it than that.

I was always jealous of Ebdons lifestyle with beautiful wife and lovely kids and lots of money. He was the archetypal family man. He seemed to have it all. It's a real shame and unlike others I expect his snooker to suffer because his incentive was his family.

    Hope they sort it out.

  20. When I heard about it I suspected it might have something to do with the families move to Dubai.

Why did Ebdon move to Dubai? Does he have business interests, or was it just a Tax thing. No doubt his wife and children will come back to the UK. Wonder if he will stay out in Dubai by himself?

In the style of Alan Partridge - 'i dont avoid tax I evade tax' or is it the other way round?

Wasn't part of the move to do with Ebdon's love of bloodstock?

this family matter shouldnt matter. If hes really a top class player he wouldnt be stupid enough to let himself down. He should keep his personal life seperate.

Well , I know why they are getting separated but won't give details.

I will only say that Peter is a great man and snooker player with education, not to mention a great father.

The move to Dubai is a reason but not as mentioned that Deborah misses her family or anything. I think she would probably stay there longer than Peter does.

    Shame on you Mrs.
