HIGGINS GETS CLOSER

John Higgins didn't just outplay Shaun Murphy at the Crucible tonight, he also out-thought him.

His superior safety play came to the fore and forced the mistakes from Murphy.

So Higgins leads 11-5.

But the final isn't over yet. After all, he led Mark Selby 12-4 in the final two years ago and saw this reduced to 14-13.

His 14-4 lead over Mark Allen in this year's semi-finals was also clawed back, although he of course came through in the end,

I expect Higgins to win but feel it may go a little closer before he gets his hands on the trophy for a third time.

Murphy was poor tonight, Higgins gave him many chances in the first four frames and Murphy failed to capitalise, it was only after the interval that Higgins really dominated.

I too expect it to be closer, I think Murphy will probably win the morning session 5-3, but at 14-10 I expect Higgins to again power on home and win 18-11/12.

I think he deserves it as well, he's the most consistant and greatest all round snooker I've ever seen. If he had fully devoted himself to snooker instead of spending time with his family I think he could have been on par with Hendry, but some things are more important and his legacy in the game is assured regardless of what happens tomorrow.

Just wanted to say a word about the feature on the BBC during the interval last night about the Paul Hunter Foundation. It was very moving and some sterling work is being done. Well done to all involved and I hope the players keep supporting it.

Will be an interesting match whatever happens. Hopefully both players are ready for it and do produce the good quality snooker we want to see. Think Murphy will win a few but Higgins seems a stronger player overall. Murphy is younger anyway so Im sure he will get some more chances in other years and will improve his playing more.

for someone who has only been "into snooker for 2 weeks" you sure couldnt have heard Ken in commentary often, especially seeing hes rarely ever been there anyway.....

as for Higgy, i expect him to lead 16-8 going into tonight and have it wrapped up before tonights scheduled MidSessionInterval. 18-9 or 18-10

Ur right I have hardly heard him but from what I have heard I prefer him and Willy to the rest. Willy always says interesting things and Kens accent is nice to listen to compared to the others.

Just that hes always saying what shots the players should take and why it went wrong if they miss or run out on position. Just feel it makes it easier to understand what the players are doing. Also his funny comment about his first car being a Mercedes. Am I the only one who thinks that? I know the other comentators do say stuff like that too but Willy seems to say more on that side than others. I think Ive learned a bit more about position play and tactics from listening. He also sounds interested and alert. What does everyone else think?

Wonder if Neil Robertson can sing. My dad said he looked more boyband than snooker player.

  18. Higgins only need two more frames tonight. I suspect most people will be pleased if/when Higgins wins as Murphy is probably the least liked Snooker player on the circuit.

Well I hope Murphy wins a few more matches to make it kind of closer but still want Higgins to beat him.

Hendry and Robertson must be gutted that Murphy didn't play like this against them. Them's the breaks I suppose (no pun intended...)

I want him to win a few more frames so that the match is a bit closer. The other day I wanted Robertson to win over Murphy. Dont have that strong feelings about Higgins and Murphy but prefer Higgins to win. Whats so confusing about that?

I mentioned that he should lose some weight coz I noticed him sweat a bit when playing but after that I have seen other players sweat as well it must have been coz of being nervous and not his weight. So as I said, I am sorry for mentioning that when it is not anything to do with his playing.

People have been sat in the same seat's for the last 16 and a half day's, why on final's night do they get put in other seat's and some posh people get there seat's.

Willie Thorne is spouting complete bollocks again.

Why is he still employed by the BBC?

The guys moronic drivel is getting right on by tits and he should be emptied from the commentary team!
