WILLIAMS CONFIRMED FOR SHANGHAI

Mark Williams will play in the Shanghai Masters next week despite breaking his right wrist during a fall at home.

Williams, who is wearing a cast on the wrist, has been practising hard for the season's first ranking event and made a maximum yesterday.

He will wear the cast during the tournament as doctors have advised that premature removal could do long term damage.

Williams, who won the 2002 China Open in Shanghai, faces Northern Ireland's Joe Swail in the opening round.

The one armed maximum man...what a player! An all time great for certain.

Wonder how they will price this match up. Anything this side of 1/2 Swail will be a massive price IMO.

    Hello Dave
In the early days of the Lottery, Mr Mark Wildman and others talked of possible "Hand Outs" for the sport of snooker.
During that period the game was awash with Tobacco money and didn’t really need help. Is there a reason Dave why the WPBSA or World Snooker hasn’t applied for Olympic status, therefore qualify for a periodic Lottery hand out?
The administration then; quoted a two million pound award for less attractive sports like "Fencing" and “Curling”. A three or four million between Olympics was seriously talked of for snooker. Mr hey you
PS I dident imagine this Dave. You will find it in the magazine Snooker Scene or Pot Black.DM

Mr heyyou: if you decide to drift this far off topic then send personal emails instead. It is getting to be ridiculous.

Anyway, the return of Williams is a true delight. It would have been sad to see him slip completely away like Doherty.
