SPEAKING OF DAVID TAYLOR...

How about this for controversy?

What's interesting is that the referee replaces the cue ball in the 'D' even though it has not left the bed of the table - the crux of the discussion last year when Graeme Dott used his fist to stop the white going in a pocket and Mark Selby was then penalised for picking it up.

Where do you even begin! id almost say the worst of it was that he missed the green. hmm..almost...

Funnily enough I randomly watched an old Big Break episode earlier on youtube and who cropped up...yep you guessed it - old David Taylor himself. did quite well too, won the mystery prize no less.

whats more shocking is the position the balls got replaced (and agreed on) to.

I suppose the referee assumed the in off to have occurred and tried to replace the balls as they would have been had the white been allowed to drop.

I would have thought he could have
[a] Allowed Taylor to have played from where the balls landed or
[b] Call a miss or award the frame under the deliberate foul rule.
[c] Breathe a sigh of relief that it was the mild mannered Taylor he was refereeing and not Alex Higgins.

I'd defend Patsy Fagan to the hilt personally. At the time a man troubled by the dreaded freezes which eventually ended his career.
A wonderful guy who is now back involved in the game at grass roots level.
To be fair, David Taylor, the victim in all this, acted with great dignity here and didn't make a song and dance of it all in defeat.
Good luck Friday David, I suspect you'll need it as time waits for no man in snooker.

9:03pm "[b] Call a miss or award the frame under the deliberate foul rule"

Was a miss rule a rule back then?

[c] Breathe a sigh of relief that it was the mild mannered Taylor he was refereeing and not Alex Higgins.

Alex would of potted that green with his fag nub...

Dear Dave
How are you lad! It’s sad that your main voices or blogs seem a bit insular in there posts. Your friend and ex-bloger “Snookerbacker” had a remarkable good article on our new chairman Barry. Yet not one person remarked on the “New Mans” sudden change of policy.

Please note Dave I have no objection to Barry’s different approach in management. My post is only about the complete apathy by “your or our own” members.

Barry was swept to victory under the pledge of “Transparency” and “Complete Honesty” and within weeks is demanding complete power and (boastfully) to rule as a dictator.

I do not object to Barry’s rants but the complete indifference of our fellow blogs proves just how shallow there reasons for discarding Sir Rodney an honest and honourable man. Mr hey you.
PS On a snooker note Dave! A cue ball played off middle,is skidding and spinning but never rolling. DM

it is rolling once the side wears off....unless the fine fart method ignores the laws of physics

Hello Dave, with your permission pleases.
Dear Mr Fart
It is indeed thoughtful and brave of you sir to declare a nom de plume (no doubt) in the perfect character you enjoy. Please continue your brand of merriment as I have no intentions sir of depriving the Dave Del blogs of your thoughtful witticisms.

As a Dave Den member you are entitled sir to a clear and correct reply to your thoughtless retort.

Dear mister Fart you are incorrect about the ball Rolling when the side spin is exhausted. A ball cannot move without the thrust force of the cue, or the collision force with another ball, and is incapable of the “Rolling” motion in either case.

You may teach yourself Mr Fart “The Mechanics of the balls” but please remember that snooker the “Fine Art” method is the world’s only copyright sport. Mr hey you
