BATTLE REJOINED

So it's to be Stephen Hendry v Jimmy White in the first round of the 12bet.com UK Championship.

This is a rivalry that kept a generation of snooker fans enthralled for a decade. The latest twist is that if Hendry fails to win he could lose his place in the elite top 16 when the latest seedings list is compiled after the tournament.

Here's what I wrote about the Hendry v White rivalry earlier this year. I'm glad that the last line wasn't quite correct...

Looking at the scorelines Jimmy seems to be in form — Adrian Gunnell is no pushover and Joe Perry is a very good player and neither seem to have bothered him too much. It looks like the World Seniors has been a shot in the arm for him, and I think he could cause Hendry some serious problems. No doubt some of the anons will be here on the blog in the morning, moaning about how snooker needs to move on from these "has beens" and the snooker will be "low quality", but I for one am certainly looking forward to this match!

Jesus, the Hendry/White match is scheduled against the final sessions of the Robertson and Ronnie matches. Couldn't they have played the three big names (world champ/Ronnie/Hendry) on three separate days? Terrible scheduling. Get it together Barry, this is the kind of thing we expected from the previous administration!

Gonna be an amazing match whatever happens, so happy I decided to get tickets weeks ago! Be intresting if Jimmy beats Hendry he has Williams/M.Davis in the next round, so he doesn't have it easy!

No UK Championship on the BBC?

Looks like there is only listing for Eurosport on the worldsnooker.com website.

Also significant was when White beat Hendry at the 1998 World Championship.
A result which contributed to Hendry losing his number 1 ranking to John Higgins.
Let battle commence.

Jimmy has a good chance as long as it doesn't go 8-8.

Ooooh, that was a nice one to read again.

As luck would have it Eurosport has been down for a week, probably due to the heavy snowfall here, and if it isn't up on saturday I might cry...

It's a fair possibility this will be the last time they play as pros.

Surely if Hendry finishes out of the top 16 at the end of this season then that's it for him?

(But don't call him Shirley)

Finishing outside the top 16 at the end of the season is no worse than being outside after the UK Championship

I think he'll carry on either way

Stephen will show Jimmy once again that he owns him on a snooker table. :)

Great, it is on Eurosport 2...

Now it's time to wrestle with the eurosport player again. That crap never works properly.
