TABLE TALK

It's been an entertaining start to the Pukka Pies UK Championship.

The snooker has been exciting - Selby v Cope, Maguire v Holt, Hendry v Davis and Higgins v Walden in particular - there have been large crowds and the conditions look excellent.

Steve Davis and others reckon the middle pockets on the Star tables, in use this season, are a bit tougher than the Riley Aristocrat tables in use last year. It may only be fractions but that's what the game often comes down to.

Still, we've had 17 centuries in the first two days and with Ronnie O'Sullivan, Ding Junhui and Ali Carter all in action today we may well have more.

Watch out for Carter: he needs two to get to 100 for his professional career.

The last time Carter made a century break in professional play was in Welsh Open; he's two breaks from 100th career century for almost a year now.

Notice Steve Davis on Twitter saying it's forst come first served for tickets. Is this down to the hand of Barry?

Large crowds? We must be watching different tournaments Dave!

I enjoyed my day out in Telford, although snooker took a while to warm up. Is this the last year of the contract in Telford? I think it is an excellent venue and the crowds have been good. Davis Hendry was perversely entertaining, but has anyone hit three centuries in a match and played so dire, Selby should thrash him. I think I may have been hasty in tipping him as he is in housed in a very tough section of the draw.

can i just be the first to congratulate p lines after his crushing win over marco fu tonight and he earned me a few quid at odds of 4 to 1 which is not bad considering fu has not won yet this season.p.s good luck to stuart bingham who needs a good comeback tomorrow

I think you are mistaken Shaun. P.Lines was top-price 3/1 yesterday.

marco has been terrible for a few months now

the smart cash was on lines

easy to say that now, but since someone else is proclaiming lines won him money i dont feel bad saying similar

Marco Fu played on saturday in Hongkong in the East Asian Games for the Hongkong team. They won the gold medal but the jetlag was to big to show a good match two days later in Telford I think.

Dear David
I am really sorry lad that you have chosen to smother/censor my posts. I assure you the “Fine Art” will never post an untruth or name names to humiliate individuals but mostly will never embarrass the games good name with a disrepute charge.

There is so much been left unsaid Dave that it could blow up; and will blow up some time? Letting a “Touch of Integrity” to seep into snooker administration may attract sponsors again.

The favourite punch line Dave is “Transparency” and said many times by Barry Hearn and others over the voting period as both an excuse and a reason. Some people in snooker Dave think they are above apologising. Mr hey you

Dear Mr 2: 13
How are you! I have no idea what your www reuk comment means. I am a learner to this PC and blog game, but fully versed on snooker politics and a guardian of fare play. Therefore I cannot reply with clarity to your intricate signals.

I assure you Mr 2:13 that Dave understands the message, along with a few more of your fellow blogs plus the completely snooker administration in Bristol. Mr hey you

Dear Mr hey you how are you chap, thank's for the plug ;) i wouldn't say you was a learner to this blog game, i'd say you were an expert.

Dear Mr 8:30 PM and of course Dave.
Thanks for the compliment sir on my being an expert. I am still taking lessons from an impatient grand son of twenty four. The lad does stop short of “Saying” just how slow and stupid I am.

As you are a member of Dave’s blog and presumable a snooker addict, I will admit I am an amateur “learner Expert” on the physics of snooker.

This is a whispering secret between you and I Mr 8:30, not Dave! The player that can make the balls roll before a successful or unsuccessful shot is a miracle man.

Please don’t tell any snooker coaches’ Mr 8:30 and especially the BBC staff in “Hazels Corner”.
Mr hey you
