WPBSA STATEMENT

The WPBSA has released the following statement after today's AGM:

"Following an AGM, held in Sheffield today, at which Sir Rodney Walker, Jim McMahon and Mike Dunn were not re-elected to the board of the WPBSA, and at which no other individual stood for election, the remaining board members, Lee Doyle and Dr Hamish McInnes, will now co-opt further individuals to the board, as a matter of priority. The first such appointment will be a professional player, as governed by the constitution of the WPBSA."

Two points:

1) Why are the WPBSA not announcing the actual voting figures?

2) They'd better not co-opt Peter Ebdon, a player associated entirely with the board that has just been rejected (he stepped down earlier this year with Sir David Richards to save the WPBSA money).

What happens now Dave? Is snooker now a rudderless ship heading for the rocks, or does a new captain take over, and when?

Rodney better not have some evil trick up his sleeve

Does Sir Rodney Walker get some sort of retirement package? And if so is this related to how the revenue has DEcreased in his time as chairman so that he has to pay the WPBSA money every year.

And am I the only one who wants Tony Drago to be the new professional on the board? :-)

^ Michael Holt should be the professional :)

Fergal O'Brien should be the players' representative. Or Patrick Wallace.

Sadly, I'm beginning to suspect they're buidling up to some sort of stroke involving Ebdon.

Logic and common sense suggest that Hearn should be co-opted immediately plus a player known to stand up for the sport and fair play. ie John Higgins, Steve Davis, Mark Selby.
That leaves one spot on board of five and suggest that would be Barry's decision.
If Doyle and McInnes don't bring in Hearn TODAY then cue the EGM.

Im intrested in the strong way you don't want Ebdon, would this be a very bad move and does this suggest he is not very popular with people in snooker?

It's nothing personal against him, but he was part of the board that has just been rejected. How would it look if he was brought back?

Rodney Walker will turn pro and they will elect him

Steve Davis is a cert IMO.

Totally agree, and I could be wrong but I think he rejected the Altium proposal. I think the boom is already happening in China, but whose to say it can't be worldwide rather than one area. Also as much as we need to expand lets not forget the UK as we need to work on that and not let it drift as it have been. This story will be great for the UK Championship and getting it in the papers.

Alan McManus? David have you lost leave of your senses! McManus would merely be a puppet for McMahon

Nigel Bond would in most cases be a respected choice but sadly he has been closely associated with Del Hill and that, IMHO rules him out.
