I'm pleased that World Snooker have chosen to honour Paul Hunter with a new scholarship award for gifted youngsters but very surprised they didn't also make the gesture of renaming the Masters trophy after him - something many top players had called for.

I think it's a copout!
Many people will not relate to this award at all, and it will hardly get any media coverage - that is the sport/general media.
Where, the Masters, had so many aspects going for it; new(ish) venue;long sponsorship deal;more players involved.

I see your points, Joe, but it is a slightly awkward issue.
I can think of several players, former world champions with distinguished careers, who have not had anything named after them.
I know this is a slightly different situation - with Paul passing away at his prime rather than after his peak or retirement. But I can see why the WSA would be a little reluctant to do this.
I AM SO DISGUSTED THAT THE MASTERS TOURNAMENT IS NOT GOING TO BE NAMED AFTER DEAR PAUL HUNTER. WHY? IT IS HIS TOURNAMENT, HE WAS THE ONLY PLAYER TO WIN IT 3 TIMES IN 4 YEARS. THERE IS NOW NOTHING IN ENGLAND, THE GERMAN PRO-AM IS NOT EVEN A WORLD SNOOKER RANKING EVENT. PAUL WAS THE MASTERS CHAMPION, HE DESERVES TO BE HONOURED, IF NOT FOR HIM, IT SHOULD BE FOR HIS WIFE LINDSEY AND THEIR DAUGHTER EVIE ROSE. I AM TOTALLY DISGUSTED. JANE
