ALL SET FOR KILLARNEY

There is more snooker on the TV this weekend with the next stage of the Sportingbet.com World Series in Killarney, Ireland.

John Higgins, Shaun Murphy, Ken Doherty and Jimmy White will be joined by four Irish juniors.

There's live coverage on Eurosport from 8pm on Saturday and Sunday.

More information here.

Dave

serious question

do you know if Eurosport / those concerned with the camera set up are planning on making the view any better than it has been at recent eurosport (only) coverage events [like the finals in portugal last week] as it certainly makes viewing much more difficult in that the viewer and indeed the commentators dont have a clue if balls "pot" or if players are snookered etc such is the bad angle and length of zoom in..?

ta for any info you have, if any

It looks like a pretty bland tournament to me this weekend. The Higgins Murphy festival of snooker continues. I can't see the line up here pulling in the viewers, we'd rather see a more competitive field.

Where is your money on a Shaun/John final?

Hopefully there will be an all Irish final with Murphy v Doherty. The games needs a boost in Ireland.

"...an all Irish final with Murphy v Doherty..."

A Murphy's stout, that is, I presume..?

cheers,
Eric

To the opening post, I was left a comment on my blog saying that apparently they sold tickets on each of the four sides of the arena in Portugal so Eurosport had to use that camera position so that they didn't obscure the view of some spectators. Hopefully it won't happen again.

If you're right Matt, that qualifies for schoolboy error status ...

I agree the picture last time was awful, I hope there's a decent amount of people there this time so they can fix it.

I hope this one doesn't contribute to saturating the Eurosport market as it's hardly a great line-up.

sounds like a good line up to me with the world and uk champions present - they are the best players at the moment and you couldnt ask for more than that- hopefully the higgins murphy rivalry will develop as they should remain the best 2 players in the world for the next few years

Its great to have snooker on tv- i dont understand why people are complaining that there are only 8 players in the field! They should just sit back and enjoy it!

Matt

ta for the reply

that may well be the case last week, though it also isnt concrete proof.

anyway, regardless if that was the reason last week or not it is far form the first time that televised snooker on eurosport has had the dodgy camera position, even though last weeks was by far the worst.

I agree with the first poster the camera angle was shocking on Eurosport last week, unwatchable I turned it off.

Vincent Muldoon should be playing in this.

I'm now being told that TG4 don't have this event in their schedules.

It was wrongly reported in one of the Irish papers.

but fingers crossed that everyone is wrong and there is a TG4 broadcast cos we can usually watch that via a web stream.

I don't see why people keep complaining about the main camera position. I know that it wasn't perfect and it was a little difficult to watch but Eurosport and The World Series of Snooker are doing their real best. We, as snooker fans, are spoilt from this World Series. It's a refreshing new circuit and if people want to complain then don't watch then don't get involved as people like them don't help at all.

To the event in Ireland, I'm looking forward to it. It has a good line-up of players. It would have been interesting to see Alex Higgins there, however it may not have been possible.

if you dont see why people are complaining then you need an eye test!

people like us do help, as when folk complain, legitimately, things do change!

obviously just a post to wind folk up, again chris. zzz

Wow - what an epic battle between Ken Doherty and Tony Moore - the time it took I'd have thought it was 30 reds not 10!!

The event in Portugal had the main camera so low the table was wider at the top than the bottom!

Happy Dave Harold and Mike Mallett are commentating.

and it appears that all the moaning on loads of snooker internet forums as well as other forms of "complaint" hasnt went unheeded.

well done all concerned

To Anonymous at 6.40pm:

Of course I understood why people were complaining, that is why if you actually read my post I said what the reason was. But people should get used to it as we are fortunate to have the World Series of Snooker. I'm sure you'd rather have a different camera angle than no World Series.

I wasn't obviously trying to wind folk up, as I use the posting facilities on this blog properly and not for little arguements. I was speaking generally that even though it's important to realise where the improvements are, such as the camera angle (which for the Ireland event has been sorted), there isn't any need to let that spoil what has been a great series for snooker, last season and this season so far. There are much worse things that could have happened.

If you wish to continue this further, then send me a private message on www.thesnookerforum.com, my username is 'bongo'.

P.S, it isn't 'again', as I have always posted on this blog legitimately.

bongo, i am not a member of tsf so cant send you a message.

id rather have no world series if it were to continue with last weeks camera angle.

obviously now that its ok i am enjoying it.

thanks for the PM invite, but i am not into that kinda thing ;)

8:51pm so you would rather watch no snooker just because the camera angle was a bit difficult to watch? If you are in love with this great game you would watch it from any camera angle.

nice name

thanks for your opinion

you dont even know me, but can tell from one post what i would do if i was in love with the game.

another person on here who thinks their opinion is what others should do. thinks the world is full of robots who think the exact same as themself.

hmmm

Hmmmm nice name also and yes if you was in love with the game you would watch it from any angle.
