GOING FOR GOLD

The big surprise of the World Games so far has been the defeat of Shanghai Masters champion Ricky Walden.

He lost 3-1 to Wu Yu Lin of Taiwan today.

Another professional, Mike Dunn, was beaten 3-2 by Egypt's Mohammed Awad yesterday.

It leaves us with a quarter-final line-up as follows:

Shu Hun Lin (Taiwan) v David Grace (England)
Soheil Vahedi (Iran) v Mohammed Awad (Egypt)
Nigel Bond (England) v Thepchaiya Un Nooh (Thailand)
Mohammed Shehab (UAE) v Wu Yu Lin (Taiwan)

Gerard Greene, who won the gold four years ago, withdrew for reasons unknown.

Gerard withdrew because of not being able to get back in time for the start of the Pro Challenge.

I'm not sure why he felt there was a clash, as both our PIOS players, David Grace and Stephen Craigie have made arrangements to get themselves back in time for the PIOS on Monday.

Snooker © The Fine Art Method

A secret is wasted if not shared
Dear Sir.
I am sorry to disagree with you on Tony Meo issue and Tony Knowles also.
Tony Meo had the greatest and most economical cue action in the world and is the cue action of the future. Tony had a better cue action than his friend Jimmy White, but Tony hated the limelight of Pro' snooker.
Tony Knowles was also a great cueist! But was complimented so often on his "Beautiful" follow through cue action that Tony started to play just "follow through" instead, and forgot to strike through the ball.

The silly "follow through" advice is no longer spoken of, and has proved a detriment to coaching. The ever popular “Watch Me” and I’ll show you again method was introduced by Mr Joe Davis snookers first coach almost one hundred years ago and may continue for another hundred years as snooker does not have an alternative to the Joe Davis original copyright method. Mr hey you.

As I can't see him in the quarter final line up I take it Welsh Pro Paul Davies was also beaten. Anyone got the score?

Very short matches best of 5!

Snooker The Fine Art Copyright Method
A secret is wasted if not shared.

Dear Snooker Buffs,
Who is the best between Ronnie Hendry and Higgins will always be resolved with the difference between 7 and 3 if the discussion is on the trophies won as opposed to entertainment value. A sixty break by Tony Meo in the eighties was more entertaining than two century breaks by Terry Griffiths.

In turn, two fifty breaks by Tony Drago was more exciting and entertaining than a max 147 by Peter Ebden. Entertainment value is the snooker of the future or the professional game will go the way of Billiards, Ludo and Snakes and ladders.

The seven times champion Stephen Hendry was the most entertaining player ever, but after the easy six wins Stephen decided to analyse his game and never got his consistent game together again and struggled for that seventh win.

Jimmy White was even more entertaining than Hendry but Jimmy was hospitalised in the nineties and when he needed help to find his game the only help then was “Go back to basics” the same advice given to most improvers when off the boil.

If Jimmy White’s game had been broken down, the technique analysed with detailed words plus copyrighted the whole world would now play snooker the Jimmy White way.

Ronnie is the worlds top snooker entertainer, but sadly is aware that his game is played on FORM the silly word FORM it comes and goes like Lady Luck; can’t be controlled, recalled or practiced. Mr hey you.
