i dont think using that video footage, especially on only a few minutes evidence, that anyone could objectively compare the pocket sizes of that table and those of todays regular tables.
i certainly dont "get" how anyone could see such a big difference so as to say "a lot tighter".

It's not much the pockets as the overall conditions. Cloth / Balls both made the game a lot harder in those days.
