SNOOKER'S GREATEST MOMENTS

The Independent is celebrating the greatest moments in snooker.

You can read Nick Harris's account of the 1985 Taylor-Davis black ball finish here.

I wouldn't argue with their other choices, with the possible exception of the 1997 Charity Challenge final (which wasn't in Liverpool as the paper claims), in which Stephen Hendry beat Ronnie O'Sullivan 9-8 with a maximum in the decider. Context is everything. They played like it was an exhibition because it was basically an exhibition tournament.

However, this minor quibble aside you can't argue with a national newspaper taking time to mark some of the great moments of our game.

For the record, here's a reminder of my top ten moments.

regarding the charity challange to come out on top with a 147 playing Ronnie in a exibition environment shows how great a player hendry was.

no other player ever would have beaten Ronnie how he played in that match.

i agree 1:51

one of the best matches of all time (no matter if they were playing for £1, a world championship, or charity).

two great players. one of them, hendry - the best ever.

Ronnie's 147 against Selby in the 2007 UK Semi final was a much bigger moment than Hendry's 147.

It was an invitation tournament not an exhibition, they were playing for their chosen charities, more pressure than you would get at an exhibition.

Most of the players treated it like an exhibition

Well when I was there Darren Morgan and Terry Griffthis took nearly four hours for seven frames, in no way was this an exhibition

Not for them maybe but it was for plenty of players
