If I had a pound for every time someone asked me where Tony Meo is these days and what he's doing now I'd have...well...several pounds.
Well, at last we have an answer!
Roger Lee has been to interview him for the August issue of Snooker Scene (out on August 5) and has taken a picture of how he looks now.
I must admit I did a double take before recognising him.
Roger has also been to interview Patsy Fagan, the 1977 UK champion.

Does Roger still have a Heritage Room at the Crucible?
As for the Computer Magazine poll, it did a feature on either sports/snooker websites (way before this blog's time) about 2000/2001.
All got a good write up...(TSN, www.snooker...snooker radio et al)

I can remember writing an article, way back when, for Snooker Scene, about the websites as they were then.
We did a series of articles featuring snooker on the net.
There was one about holiday destinations, clubs etc.
I've got them all archived still if anyone wants to read any of them.
Dave - your opening line says it all. A few blogs back you asked, when debating whether there are still characters in snooker - why is Tony Meo considered a 'character' while Ali Carter isn't? I suspect you won't get people asking you what happened to Ali Carter in 20 years time - good player though he is. Meo had close links/frienships with both S.Davis and J.White, so all snooker fans of that era could relate to him.
people will always ask after past players ...thats why they are past they are from someones childhood when you remember where are they now what are they doing the only difference is you would proberbly know what Ali Carter is doing when you here these words "THIS IS YOURE CAPTAIN SPEAKING" when you going abroad somewhere lol

Thanks, 9.32. I presume this is all to do with the new sponsors taking over and, i take it, the heritage room didn't come back when Betfred took over? What a shame...And why wasn't a fuss kicked up over this?

Yes, he has always been one of my favourite players too. I once practiced with him in the Kingston Snooker Centre - I say practiced, I was more like a ballboy, just picking out the balls he'd potted and one day I watched as he got 3 centuries on the trott. Best of all he was a really nice guy....
