Its significant that worldsnooker.com have made no mention at all that this programme is on. Anyone would think they didn't want people to know or perhaps like their chairman they just don't care.
It isn't even on the BBC snooker homepage, so we wouldn't have known anything about it but for here.
I do hope this will be a good programme and it really discusses some good topics. I hope it isn't a pointless waste of time.
Off topic: worldsnooker.com is an alright website but they need to sort it out. They need to have more articles on other tournaments as well as their own, a note of this radio programme as you said for example, maybe even podcasts. All they are doing is Q and A articles with professionals, they haven't even gone to the top pros yet. worldsnooker.com could be a lot better than what it already is. It could be one of the best websites for snooker, but at the moment it is a strange website with what they choose to post and what they choose to not post.
The World Snooker site for me is extremely limited when compared those of say the ATP in tennis, or the websites for golf events such as say the US Open in the past week.
They contain a wealth of information, statistics and the like and are invaluable really. As a tennis fan I can just log on to the ATP site and see the rankings for every week going back to the 1970's, I can see the head to head records of any two players during that time period, I can see their records and results from and match/tournament pretty much ever...the list goes on.
I would love snooker to have something comparable one day.
I agree with Matt. The 'official' site needs to be; articles taken from your blog; Janie's website and Chris' statistical website. Combine those three and we should get something similar to other official sport websites. I know it's silly but do worldsnooker even embrace new technology; myspace, facebook, twitter? Who am I kidding.
I've got nothing to say about tonight, it's going to be like when player's are asked to vote on key agendas: pointless!
is it constuctive to allow idiots to make fun of a respectable man trying to run the game,i dont think so ! Your other posts are way below the line and you are responsable for keeping them on here,a mans size has nothing ta go with snooker and you alow people to mock ? You need to grow up !
With record to stats, it would be nice to see a lot more of them, but that's not solely the fault of world snooker. When watching, the BBC bombard us with shot %ages, safety success, long pot success, cue success, etc, yet these stats are nowhere to be seen on-line.
If you go to the trouble of recording them, why not make them available to us? It seems daft if they've gone to all the trouble of recording them for each match to just confine them to the virtual dustbin.
So, just to clarify, representing the media is Studd (who has only been on the circuit 4/5 years and only covers UK/Masters/Worlds and thats it.) And Syed (Occasional feature snooker writer, who sometimes pops into the Eurosport commentary booth - last seen...?)
I don't know MM, apart from the Premier League, but this really is going to be poor...well are the real snooker media?!
I thought that was pretty good really, nothing new to those of us who read Dave's blog regularly, but it's good to see the issues discussed on a more mainstream format as well. Hopefully it made more people aware of the situation.
Lee Doyle knows nothing about the business of snooker and proved it in graphic detail on the BBC tonight.
Doesn’t he know HIS business won a court case in 2001 to enable them to stage tournaments where and when they like without sanction? That means world snooker have NO say on where events are staged.
Similarly, his company staged the Scottish Masters. They haven’t been able to for the last six years. And now he’s trying to run snooker!
If he is a measure of the brains who are running snooker, please get ready fto write a touching obituary this time next year.
And yeah I thought that Lee Doyle struggled with what were some very good questions put to him. Wasn't at all convinced by his response to the question of why there are no ranking events being staged in Europe, or the issue of Sir Rodney's commission.
I thought Syed and MM did a good probing job on Doyle who, frankly, was out of his depth, but thats what you get for sending the sub in.
The show was shocking. Where was Selby? Davis, for a man of his statue, didn't really seem that passionate...sounded like he'd just got out of bed...when he really could've had a rant.
They should do the show again, when its not interupted by the Wimbledon farrago taking place, and get everyone in the studio - not stuck at home or by centre court!
Tonight didn't answer anything or do anything PR wise for the sport. Conclusion: it's still in a 'state!'

But isnt it like that with every site on the Internet.

Will I be able to listen to it anywhere afterwards?

I actually said Sir Rodney's waistline is not the issue, which I would think was a pretty clear indicator of what I thought of the posts you allude to

Your spelling is poor. Does that mean you will improve it?
my spalling is not the ishu hear.the fact you left it on Dave says enough for me.....

Update: added to the line up are Michael McMullan, the secretary of the Snooker Writers Association, and Philip Studd, 5 Live's snooker correspondent

dont be a pratt.
criticising snooker should improve it for the better of many players what has spelling got to do with anything you useless idiot.

Calling someone a useless idiot when they have such poor, poor spelling is it the pinnacle of the ironical mountain.

please repost this without the error.
Lee Doyle is not saying anything usefull.
what is useful to others may not seem useful to you
yes there was far 2 many side steping questions by Lee Doyle and in short a lot of words got said but nothing was actually said.
I thought that was pretty good really, nothing new to those of us who read Dave's blog regularly, but it's good to see the issues discussed on a more mainstream format as well. Hopefully it made more people aware of the situation.

to the general listener who doesnt follow snooker on forums or indeed this blog it was quite good, all things considered, imho.
Lee Doyle was put in a imposible position by Gutless Rod Walk..
for me there was nothing new said i know it all and herd it all before some for the last 25 years.
I thought Syed and MM did a good probing job on Doyle who, frankly, was out of his depth, but thats what you get for sending the sub in.

The Newsnight piece a few months ago was far better imo.
Michael McMullen posed the really hard questions.
As you'd expect from our SWA snooker sec.
He is a walking knowledgebase and can even dredge up stats n facts that even the redoubtable Phil Yates has forgotten!!
I thought the answers to the questions regarding content on the WSA site were poor in the extreme.
Probably because they have no answer they'd like to make public!
Here's the link to listen to it again:

wildjoneseye is so easy to spot
I thought it was excellent, a very good discussion.
