A post mortem into the death of the much respected snooker coach Steve Prest has found he died of peritonitis, a burst appendix.
Steve had gone to hospital complaining of a pain in his stomach but doctors apparently discharged him.
He died on Friday, May 30 at the age of 43.
Steve's funeral was held yesterday and was attended by a number of prominent snooker personalities, including Shaun Murphy, Peter Ebdon, Willie Thorne, Joe Johnson, Mike Hallett and members of the Yorkshire snooker community.
Prest had coached Murphy during the build up to his 2005 Crucible triumph and was also with Ronnie O'Sullivan and Neil Robertson during the World Championship this year.

Steve Prest's death is all the more shocking. How is it possible that his condition has not been diagnosed or at least that they didn't keep in in hospital in doubt? The poor man must have died in terrible pain. Revolting.
Yeah this isn't good. It's the luck of the draw who you see when you go to A&E. RIP Steve.
Does'nt surprise me, all these foreign doctor's you get nowdays most of them don't know what there doing.
Truly sad news, a very curable condition that has been overlooked by those at the NHS. I wonder if there will be an enquiry?
"Does'nt surprise me, all these foreign doctor's you get nowdays most of them don't know what there doing." ... pretty racist comment IMO. Do you know what "colour" the doctor the poor guy went to see was? I bet you don't!
Reminds me when my car was vandalised and everyone in the neighbourhood complained about immigrant youth ... the guy came back for another round, was caught and he was pretty pink and in his 50th.
very popular your car is monique...
Well Monique most doctor's here in the uk are foreign, how is this racist it's FACT!!!! As for do you know what colour the doctor was i never said anything about colour i said foreign you can get WHITE foreign doctor's.
What is "racist" is to imply they don't know what they do BECAUSE they are foreign. Indeed you did not mention a colour ... but I have been in hospitals and in emergency guards in particular. No need to tell.
I would rather blame the overall organisation of the UK NHS that doesn't exactly promote excellence than a group of individuals.
And having said that I'm convinced that most doctors and nurses despite the lack of resources give it their very best.
I don't think this is the place (especially on this thread) for a debate on racism.
It's comments like these which will see commenting disabled on this blog eventually.
Please take it elsewhere.
what a tragic way to die and so young RIP
the Health service is a joke not just because of this but from persanal experiance.
Doctors are there to make money and sod people..
this will proberbly be deleted by dave but its true and sometimes the truth hurts.
The nationality of the doctors who saw Steve Prest are unknown and irrelevant - mistakes happen no matter where you come from and as anyone who has used the NHS knows it tends to be chance as to whether the care you receive is good or bad.
yes its nothing to do with nationality and its a disgrace the race card was played regarding this from anom 2.01pm
they are all the same some bad and some good however the way the national health service is run is like a factory.
8:15pm if the post was racist at 2:01pm why has'nt Dave deleated it?
I am deeply saddened by this news, and I must admit, I'm a bit angry at the way he was treated by the NHS, though I don't think some of the bigoted and unsubstantiated comments on this thread help matters. Please consider that members of his family and close friends might be reading this before posting.
Steve was a man who had the respect of professional and amateur players alike for his ability as a coach and his sheer enthusiasm for the game. Snooker is a far poorer sport without him.
Marcus.
What a frustrating way to go. Poor bloke.
The UK NHS do it again, they couldn't diagnose an alcoholic in a brewery.
I know someone who all his life had a congenital illness only to be fobbed off time after time by British doctors in England.
When he saw a doctor in Switzerland, the congenital illness was found immediately, treated and is now controlled. This is tantamount to the government murdering UK citizens, the British public should be rioting over the state of the UK NHS, it's a disgrace.
I hope I never need go back to the UK, it's now one of the countries I would least want to live in (and I'm British).
Whoever discharged Steve Prest should be struck off and put in the dock for manslaughter.

i couldnt agree more.
i know of a girl that had some sort of brain deficientcy and for months she was practicly accused of bein on Drugs.
This is such a sad story. 20 years ago I was hours away from dying of the same thing. It is terribly painful and I can't believe he wasn't operated on immediately. But I don't know the details so it's hard to say what went wrong there.
