WHITE PULLS HIS FINGERS OUT

Jimmy White is appearing in a new film called 'Jack Said,' which is described in The Times as "a dull, poorly acted affair that doesn’t deserve the brief release it’s getting" (actually one of its best reviews).

Apparently he plays a snooker player who gets his fingers chopped off by some villainous sort.

With the difficulties this will present for cueing, I'd say Jimmy's lingering chances of Crucible success have probably now gone.

Dear Dave
Its sad about Jimmy White, there is this comic film been made and no doubt others waiting in line. The lad had it all, and like the George Best story; we may wonder “Where did it all go wrong”.

If there is such a silly expression as “Natural Ability” in snooker then Jimmy had this natural ability lark. Jimmy played the game as if he was playing “Snakes and Ladders” without effort or applying any detail but with lots of Finesse showing a beautiful cue action.

The minor tragedy of snooker is the undisputed fact that snooker players “Don’t know what they are doing right” therefore never ever know what they what they are doing wrong. This anomaly applies particularly to Jimmy as he had a cue action and style of play that cried out for a Teacher to copy to the world with its many details.

If Jimmy had had his game harnessed, named and most of all Copyrighted, the whole snooker world would now be playing the Jimmy White Way. In the eighties Jimmy’s skill was not really the envy of all the top players but the entertainment factor not seen in regular winners.

About Natural Ability. The expression is like Good Form, Poor Form and Luck. They are all impostors as they can’t be detailed, practiced or recalled. Mr hey you

Incidentally, Top Cat, one or two of my more mischievious press room colleagues once gave Alan Chamberlain the nickname 'Officer Dibble'

Perhaps Jimmy could make a heroic return acting on The Crucible stage, although maybe in something a little better than this appears to be.

I think your next podcast should be with Mr Hey You - on the basis that once he has got his manifesto across he leaves ordinary sane folk alone.

He strikes me as a bit like the Unabomber. He's probably holed up in some shack in a forest north of Antwerp

Dear Mr Hayers
How are you, may I call you Tony or do you prefer Antonio? Thanks for the plug anyway Tony your very thoughtful talking of your friend Unabomber. If I remember right Tony he wasn’t a very good snooker player, more a single ball potter.
I do remember your strong points though in the Antwerp shack Tony you always managed to put most together; in fact I can’t remember seeing a better “Flower Arranger”. Mr hey you

Dear Dave
Please make our Viking friend Claus aware that Post12:51PM was a nice parady of the "Fine Art" but false.
I like Claus, but his contributions to the blog sadly shows too much defference to you Dave and other posts. Mr hey you
