BOND BREAKS EBDON

I wasn't that surprised that Nigel Bond beat Peter Ebdon last night. Indeed, I tipped him to in the Snooker Scene podcast prior to the tournament.

For me, the match was always going to be scrappy with chances abounding on both sides. Ebdon would have been unable to dictate the style of the match because Bond is comfortable playing the same sort of game.

Nevertheless, after winning the China Open a first round exit at the Crucible will be a big disappointment to Ebdon.

He said recently that he considered the Betfred.com World Championship to be more important than all of the other events put together.

The way that Murphy is playing this morning I think that you might be right about that match too...that said Andrew's long-potting has been a bit dodgy.

Murphy arrived at the Crucible suffering from a really heavy cold. He's far from well, but battling on

He seems to have a cold every year

He's doing well now, like Ding yesterday moving up a few gears when he has really needed to.

Maybe God had the morning off!

My prayers have been answered. Thank you Jesus, and well done Shaun. Don't listen to ne'er-do-gooders - or should that be ne'er-do-Goders?

Well done, Eurosport, for it's live coverage of the Fl├Ęche Wallonne.

Although the sport may be constantly sullied with scandal, betting irregularities and improperness, what a magnificent finish to the race and my wholehearted congratulations goes to the winner, David Rebellin.

Here's snooker's favourite punter, Willie Thorne, having a wager on the Maguire/Burnett correct score market. I believe he put £500 on a 10-4 scoreline.

The eurosport player is a must have for all the snooker tournaments. Like right now, with Higgins-Holt playing.

You have to agree with Ebdon, im sure Jimmy White would trade all his tournament victories for one World title.
