WHEN SEVEN BECOME FIVE

Sir David Richards and Peter Ebdon will resign from the board of the WPBSA as a result of an EGM held today to reduce the number of directors from seven to five.

This will apply for two years and is basically a measure to save money.

The WPBSA is seriously hard up. They recently told staff they would have to take a 10% pay cut and made four employees redundant.

The EGM attracted only 18 votes from an eligible constituency of more than 70, although attention may have been diverted by some tournament that's going on in Sheffield.

one of many steps in the correct direction in recent months...

as an aside, ive not heard it mentioned about the "free bar" in the players lounge being "done away with" to save £

that was another good decision, if my sources were indeed correct

I thought the free bar had been done away with some years ago?.

not so although not every single drink was free...

this year, hardly anything is

;)

No excuse for not voting - as usual the players can't be bothered and want others to do the work for them. It won't stop them complaining though.

A players bar is hardly going to break the bank. Have the organisers not realised Bill Werbeniuk is no longer with us?

explanation:

its not just players who drink in that lounge....in fact its hardly them.

there used to be a lot of free drink flowing

i know how much just that one bar bill was last year. it is a very substantial amount of money...not just ten or 20 thousand, but a good deal more

so, having almost wiped that out (remember the figure is very high) i think thats a step in the correct direction

good move- perhaps directors should also not recieve comissions and all take a 50% paycut as the directorships are not intended to be there main employment

If memeory serves correctly, alcoholic drinks in the players lounge have not been free for a number of years. I paid for a players drink there two years ago and paid last year and yesterday.

The Champions Room which the majority of players use is actually, a Free Bar.

Interesting Ebdon has resigned what with the match fixing allegation's.

your memory may be ok, but may not....

spirits werent always free. basically everything else was..

the saving is enormous, when you multiply it over the course of the betfred sponsorship period

This year the only free drinks in the players lounge are tea, coffee and water as far as I can tell...Alcohol has been chargeable for a long time but previously all soft drinks were free.

if you are talking about the samll downstairs players lounge (the one you could walk through from side entrance and get to the main cloakroom near the toliets then what you have put is incorrect.

i have attended for years.

only spirits were charged

beers etc, bottled water, crisps, nuts tea and coffee incluiding biscuits were all FREE.

this is 100% accurate.
