READ ALL ABOUT IT

I'm told that Ronnie O'Sullivan will publish a new volume of autobiography next year.

Ronnie was published in 2003 and was a bestseller.

Presumably the new book will cover such on table achievements as two world titles, two UK titles and three Masters titles.

Off the table, it is likely to cover O'Sullivan's walkout against Stephen Hendry at the 2006 UK Championship, his behaviour at the China Open press conference last year, the death of Paul Hunter and the upcoming release of his father, Ronnie senior.

For what it's worth, I enjoyed Ronnie. All autobiographies are self serving but there was plenty of interesting stuff in the book, not so much the snooker bits but off the table, particularly about O'Sullivan's experiences in the Priory Clinic.

I have no doubt the new book will sell very well.

Snooker needs characters like Ronnie. Our sport would be dead otherwise.

I'm left wondering of the other players on the circuit today, who has enough presence to be able to tell their life story - not too many.

The sooner we can get some emerging talent coming through the better.

An up-to-date autobiography from S.Davis or S.Hendry would be worth a read - surely?

I love listening to Stephen Hendry talk about the game of snooker. When he talks about his shot choices it's a great insight and one in which there isn't enough media available. I would therefore love for him to write an autobiography and release a dvd discussing some of his favourite matches.

Does everyone concur?

Dave H - what are the chances of getting Mr Hendry to do an extra long podcast (double length) with your good self going over his career in specific detail? I laughed at the description of your most embarrassing moment in a previous podcast when you asked him a question and got a one word answer, but I hope that isn't reflective of your relationship with him and he would be willing.

Hope it will be written again with Simon, cause I think it's mainly his credit, that this book is so readable.

I agree with Anon @ 12.28pm. The emerging talent that proliferates the lower reaches of the world rankings is the sports future. Ronnie is the only "true" character that our once great sport still has.

Gone are the days of Cliff Wilson, Alex Higgins, Ray Reardon, John Virgo, Nigel Bond, etc.

BRING-ON THE EMERGING TALENT.

I would of course gladly interview Stephen Hendry for as long as he could stand it

It would be a tragic day for snooker if Ronnie O'Sullivan was the most interesting player out there.

i am sick of reading about him in "every" snooker written word on the net and in newspapers....thats why folk think snooker needs him, cos hes all thats spoke about, and that makes blinkered folk think he is the only character.

saying that, his bio was a decent read, so...

You've got to admit it, but Ronnie is without doubt the #1 attraction in the game. Both his on and off table exploits puts snooker in the public eye.

Sorry, but Stephen Maguire, Mark Allen and the Irish geezer, Murphy, simply don't do anything for the sport.

The release of O'Sullivan Snr for cold-blooded murder will make the front pages of the Red-Tops. That's news that the sport should be using in its favour.

Cold-blooded murder...? So you were a witness that night? I didn't think so.

Anyway, I would love to pick up the new edition and hear his take on things old and new.

7:58pm obviously an idiot looking to wind folk up.

ive got to admit i certainly disagree with your opinion that "ive got to admit BLAH BLAH...."

I am sure you posted the irish bit to wind folk up....

and the mention of ROS dad, even though i cant stand ROS, is a low blow.

basically, youre an idiot. folk like you should stick to snooker forums, or stick to just reading blogs like this and not bother wasting yours and others time here by posting stuff to wind people up.

IMHO

Anon @ 9:56pm

Don't you mean "hear, hear". The grammar and spelling on here is atrocious. If people can't get basic things like this correct what chance does our sport have?

If Ronnie was to release a new autobiography then it would make for very interesting reading indeed.

i disagree, Chris. i think it would be akin to his borefest "i feel like quitting" interviews

Hi Dave,

Is Simon Hetterstone(?) - Ronnie's writer - involved in the new chapter's again.

Or is someone else involved?

Thanks, Joe

Our once great sport shouldn't be dependent on one individual. There's so much talent breaking through at the moment that I personally feel that our sport is going to flourish in the years ahead.

As long as Eurosport don't interrupt their excellent coverage of the Alpine Skiing and Handball while the snooker is on. Those are great sports played by real athletes.

that will only happen if Ronnie does quit like he keeps saying he wants to or will.

or if the commentators, presenters and many journalists who spout drivel about him being the only player worth watching.....

i know his matches are the most well attended but i firmly believe if he wasnt there that snooker audiences would grow and become uniform through most matches, which would put this 'crap' to bed once and for all
