On the day of Alex's funeral snooker has a chance to show the world just what they are all about when one of their icons passes away. All pro players to a man should be there and as many ex-players as possible. They should pay reverential homage to the Hurricane for blowing in to this world. In his youth he travelled the length and breadth of this country by train,on his own with just his cue preaching the gospel of this wonderful game.I can assure you boys and men that without Alex you would not be playing snooker for a living you would either be digging the roads up or sweeping them.I'm usually a very optimistic person but I won't hold my breath!
GREAT SHOW TONIGHT. GREAT TO HEAR AGAIN FROM CLIVE EVERTON, (BUT OFCOURSE FOR THE CIRCUMSTANCES.) A GREAT TRIBUTE TO HIGGINS. AS CLIVE EVERTON SAID, "ALEX HIGGINS CERTAINLY GAVE US PLENTY OF STORIES."
AS GEORGE BEST ONCE SAID OF HIMSELF AND IN REFERANCE TO THE PUBLIC, "I HOPE THEY REMEMBER THE FOOTBALL."
IN REFERANCE TO ALEX HIGGINS I PERSONALLY HOPE THAT AS WE ALL WILL, MYSELF AND THE REST OF BOTH THE SNOOKER AND GENERAL PUBLIC, "REMEMBER THE SNOOKER."
R.I.P THE UNPREDICTABLE SNOOKER GENIUS THAT IS ALEX HIGGINS. X
I thought the presentation was pretty shambolic to be honest. After suggesting that Higgins pissed all his money away because he was working class - despite Clive Everton pointing out that there are many "working class" snooker millionaires who didn't - they played this really weird clip at the end of the show of Alex pissed at the 1990 world championship.
