RONNIE CENTRE STAGE

Today is April 1 and I did think of doing an 'hilarious' April Fool's Day post but it occurred to me that the snooker world is so absurd that it would probably turn out to be true.

Instead, attention turns today to Ronnie O'Sullivan who can pretty much tie up the world no.1 spot in Beijing this week following the defeat of his closest challenger, Stephen Maguire, yesterday.

Ronnie arrived in China early to do some promotional work. He won't take Fergal O'Brien - who has beaten him two times out of three - lightly and I just get the feeling he may turn on the style.

And as we know, my predictions are rarely wrong.

you're funny, Ron will humiliate O'Brien, c'mon, he's a loser, what has he achieved in his career! nothing! a big zero! so... Go on Ron!!!

Unfortunately it's those sort of comments that alienate O'Sullivan fans - and through no fault of his own Ronnie himself - from ordinary snooker fans

What has Fergal achieved? Well he's won the British Open, he wasd a frame from winning the Masters and has been as high as ninth in the rankings

That's better than most people who have ever picked up a cue

absolutely well said Dave

Fergal has also a good (recent) record versus the almighty one....

And I second that... I makes me really angry when I read such comments AND I am a Ronnie fan (eh anon ;)).
They do Ronnie no favour and tend to place all of us who support him within the sama bad basket.

(to anyone else looking for an arguement - i am joking. honest)

Dave,

By agreeing to both of the 'For O'Sullivan comments' and 'For O'Brien comment' camps, I do seem to recall that on Eurosport, both Mike Smith and Mike Hallett had a brief conversation during the match about how little O'Brien had achieved in his career.

Tongue firmly-in-cheek of course!

Maybe it was one of them that posted the comment.

Thanks, Joe
