Ronnie O’Sullivan’s performance at the Crucible last night was his worst in a single session since he lost all eight frames to Graeme Dott in the third session of their 2006 semi-final.
He missed easy balls and seemed generally ill at ease but – and here comes the positive for Ronnie fans – he still came out of it level with Mark Allen at 4-4.
‘Pants’ was his verdict on one shot, although neither player was helped by a high number of kicks.
Allen has a couple of supporters in who could do with calming down a touch.
One of them shouted out so loud that he put Stephen Maguire off on the other table.
There’s nothing wrong with atmosphere but the Crucible arena is so small that noise is amplified.

Given how he seemingly played I imagine that he'll be delighted to have got out at 4-4. I fear that Mark Allen may have missed the boat, a bit like Hendry did in the first session of the semi last season.
You're right Dave, there's nothing wrong with atmosphere - in fact, many regard it as the finest of all of Joy Division's track.
The shouting out must surely be coming from the yobs in the football shirts. I notice there's more of these 'soccer casuals' sitting directly behind Ding and Hendry. Surely it's time to ban this type of clothing from snooker matches. They're a disgrace and bring nothing but shame to our sport.
The comment above is more moronic than any of the shouting heard last night. How narrow minded to say that if you like Football (not soccer, were not American) that you are loutish and are not civilsed enough to watch snooker.
jamie i fully agree with you (and i am the guy you think tries to argue with you *all* the time)
it would be great for the game if allen won
Jamie
How narrow minded to pick on the usage of someone else's language. Did you know that soccer is the most common way to refer to association football in South Africa and Japan. Are these cultures narrow minded?
I've noticed that the 'soccer casual' sitting just behind the players in the corner, has been there in the same seat for EVERY session over the last few days. Sounds like a dedicated snooker fan to me.
He seems to have a nice collection of retro shirts. He's wearing Coventry's brown number today...
Don't you mean 'football casual'? Jamie will get upset and call you an American :-)
That guy has been sitting there for years already. He wears football shirts, yes, but doesn't move or shout...
The problem is the 2-table situation; shouting can come at inappropriate moments then.
So the Coventry brown shirt is a real one and not a retro.
are you asking or telling?
i see ronnie hints at not playing in his post match interview
*yawn*
theres always next year..........
