Steve Davis, surely snooker's greatest ever ambassador, will soon be appearing as the celebrity guest in dictionary corner on the popular Channel 4 quiz show Countdown.
Steve's dry wit and self deprecating personality have made him a great favourite on many such programmes over the years, in particular the BBC's A Question of Sport.
He's filming his Countdown cameo next week and it will be broadcast later in the year.
Meanwhile, Ding Junhui's career is to form the basis of a new cartoon series on Chinese TV called Dragon Ball No.1.

It'll be the first time we've ever seen Ding animated...
Yes he's hardly the most interesting subject is he? Gosh can you imagine one based on Alex Higgins....
Dennis Taylor was one countdown a while back. I'll definitely be tuning in to channel 4 next week.
I should point out Steve is recording it next week but it won't be shown for a few weeks.
well, I hope it's not broadcasted when the world championships are on.
It's on mid to end of May.
Is it true that the China Open doesn't have a sponsor? Isn't it supposed to be the big area of growth for the sport? And despite worldwide recession still expects its economy to grow this year.
Hi Dave,
Being a bit lazy here, but isn't Davis in China next week?
I hope he can perform better than he did at the Celebrity Darts in Wolvehampton last year (when he shouldve been in Bahrain.)
Also, didn't Shaun Murphy have a disaster on Weakest Link?
Thanks, Joe
He won't be in China, lost to Stuart Pettman in qualifying back in January I think it was.
Cheers, mate, Joe
