Thanks so much, this is my favorite blog ever!
A shrewd comment.
My question was answered! Thanks.
That was a great podcast...
I do enjoy these podcasts but I felt that this one covered many topics that you had already written about in your blog. We can read your view on things through this blog so I hope future podcasts are used to bring us the thoughts and anicdotal stories of players old and new, plus other figures in the game (looking forward to hearing from Jan next week).
I hope that doesn't sound too critical, just my view!
I answered the questions that were sent in.
If someone had sent in different questions I would have answered them.
Sorry Dave, as soon as I sent that comment it occured to me that your hands were tied to a certain degree with you having no control over the questions. However, I hope you can understand the point I was trying to make. It was a bit like watching a good film you had already seen, you still enjoy it but you know what's coming.
Thanks Dave- excellent podcast (again!)
Great podcast and you're right Dave - Signs is a terrible film, coming as it did on the back of 6th Sense and Unbreakable
Many thanks for answering my question Dave.
The only disagreement I have with you is that the trade union was set up with Barry Hearn and Pat Mooney heavily involved. These two are businessmen and I believe they may wish to see it ultimately evolve into a breakaway circuit if World Snooker don't get their act together.
It won't happen tomorrow or next week, but I could see either or both men going down that route eventually. I'd support them, but only as a last resort.
The PDC has been a successful product but it was a long and rocky path, which is why snooker shouldn't go down that route lightly.
Rob Walker's having an outing on ITV4's boxing coverage tonight. I haven't heard him call the boxers "boys" yet...........
Cheers,
Marcus
HI Marcus
Just a wee point of clarity,
The SPA will in no way be a breakaway, it is to be established entirely as Dave said, as a representative body of the players. It will look at both the challnges within the game and the positives of which there are many entirely from the Players perspective. As businessmen we believe that supporting and guiding the SPA to being set up, we will benefit from better conditions, more ranking and non ranking events all over the world, and also of course standardisation across events run by a host of different promoters. However you are right to believe we are looking at profit, as without it no one benefits.
