PODCAST#6...JAN VERHAAS

The latest Snooker Scene podcast features top referee Jan Verhaas answering your rules queries.

It was cut short as Jan had to go off and referee so at the end you can hear my views on the players who have qualified for the Crucible.

You can listen to the podcast here.

Is it true that Jan Verhaas is seven feet tall? I heard this via someone who met him recently.

I think Jan Verhaas is 6'6"

id say he is about 6'2" going by the times ive met him, though you dont measure someone as you speak, so i could be a bit out

Nice to hear from Yan, one of the best refs at the moment. I think Yan is 6'5'' because Dennis Taylor said he was

Dennis Taylor makes mistakes just like everyone else...and i am not talking about his big glasses fashion mistake

Yeah, Dennis Taylor once said Steve Davis was 6'3'' but it seemed like he was over exaggerating.

A few years back but it does say 6'6" http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/snooker/4957976.stm

Great podcast. I wouldn't mind hearing from Jan again.

At the end, could you have him say "Thank you. Final question of this session, Dave Hendon to ask".?

Dave does mention Claus the interview was cut short cause jan had to go to referee.

Hi, on podcast 5 did you anwser all the question sent in as mine was not anwsered?

Dave H said...

Jamie - what was your question, it may have slipped through the net?

jamie brannon said...

I asked do you think Ronnie O'Sullivan's best standard is better than that of Stephen Hendry? You may think there is someone else who has played to a higher standard but surely it has got to be one of these two.

Dave H said...

Ah yes, we got just after we recorded the podcast

My reply would be what Clive said in the first podcast: Ronnie hasn't done anything more than Stephen, he's just done it in more style

If they both played to their best neither would miss and therefore the match would be impossible to call

I thought you would say Stephen as I thought you had said that before. It is a tough one to get off the fence but i actually think Ronnie's safety strangely enough might give him the edge but Hendry is still the greatest in terms of acheivement. It will be intresting to get others views on this?

it would be but this bit is about the Jan interview.....
